The Liebermann Villa is the name given to Max Liebermann's summer house. It is located in the Berlin district of Wannsee (Steglitz-Zehlendorf), directly on the Great Wannsee, and has been open to the public as a privately run museum since 2006. The museum is run as the Liebermann Villa on the Wannsee.
To escape the hustle and bustle of Berlin, Max Liebermann acquired a narrow, approximately 7,260 m² waterfront property on Lake Wannsee in 1909. This property was located within the Alsen villa colony, founded by Wilhelm Conrad in 1863. He commissioned architect Paul Otto Baumgarten to build a summer villa on the property at Große Seestraße 24 (from 1933: Am Großen Wannsee 42; today: Colomierstraße 3). "The central wing of the Godeffroy country house—built in 1790 by Christian Frederik Hansen—served as the model for the front façade, while the rear bears similarities to the Roosen and neoclassical façades of the Wesselhoeft House.
