Nariyapuram junction is other wise known as padenikkal , shortened from padayaniyickal , which goes back to the history of the king of pandalam who,s army was being trained and made commissioned at this place , pada- means army and aniyikal means getting ready , also the names of houses - kottakkakathu, edapurayil , Kotta vadakkethil , all originated from pandalm kings settlement, fort and palace in Nariyapuram 200 to 300 years back which were conquered and captured by a travancore king who seized pandalam kingdom,
there was a history of a pond in which was buried the ornaments and belongings of pandalm kings family who fleed from nariyapuram. [ Abraham k george ]
