The largesst LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Terminal in India. LNG to be regassified and transported via pipelines to major Cities in South India; 1st line is to Bangalore via Coimbatore Salem. Second line is to Mangalore via Calicut. And third line is to Madurai. The major customers (Power plants, factories - FACT, Kayamkulam Thermal Power Station, industries in Mangalore, Tamil Nadu etc.) LNG to be sourced from Qatar / Australia. Expected to be ready by end of 2010. Major boost for industries in Kerala and neighboring states. LNG ships carry the product at around minus 160 degrees to keep it in a liquid state. LNG is a clean fuel and cause minimum environmental pollution.
