One of the renowned temples in india big big infra .the history of this temple dates back to 3000 years ,once goddess parvathi closed the eyes of Lord SHIVA as play Lord SHIVA got angry on her he asked her to go to earth and make prayers for him.she is continously offering prayers Lto Lord SHIVA on the banks of the holy river vegavathi by making a sand idol of Lord SHIVA on the river banks thus god forgave her on this bank and married her .all these happened under a "MANGO TREE"in the holy city of kanchipuram.this mango tree gives four different mangoes with different tastes this tree is still alive this resembles the historical heritage of my city "THE CAPITAL OF THE PALLAVAS"&"SILK CITY". THE name of the temple comes from two words "EKAM"means "ONE" and "AMARAM"means "MANGO TREE".The area of this temple is very vast which can enclose the entire people of kanchipuram.Every year during the TAMIL month of PANKUNI(march) A GRAND FESTIVE OF OUR CITY TAKES PLACE IN OUR CITY which is the grand function of our city in which the people kanchi join together irrespective of thier language, cast, culture and worship LORD and get their blessings.
