Strange shape. Prehistoric astronomical feature, exposed bedrock, glades. Wider than interstate 44, seen on aerial photos dating back to 1930 (first recorded aerial photo 1930)

The restricted area is known as Crescent, native american crescent quarry and tyson-beaumont quarry are the two quarries that suppled stone in the construction of cahokia mounds.
