Montgomery Union Station was built by the Louisville and Nashville Railroad and began handling passenger trains during 1898. The last trains using the station were Amtrak's Floridians, which ran until October 1979. Amtrak served Montgomery with the Gulf Breeze from October 1989 until March 31, 1995, which used a different station.
