Also known as Chilton County Airport. A portion of the airport is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district. The contributing structures include the Works Progress Administration Hangar (1937), the Tuskegee Army Airfield Hangar (1942) and a light tower & generator (1940). These structures were listed on the NRHP on June 2nd, 2004. They were constructed by the Works Progress Administration (WPA), a New Deal program that operated between 1935 and 1943. The program provided work for unemployed people who were struggling to find jobs during the Great Depression.
