Located in Kershaw, South Carolina is the largest gold mine on the East Coast. The operation employs over 580 people and includes four open pits, a world-class process circuit, the Duckwood tailings storage facility and associated surface infrastructure.
Gold was first discovered at the Haile Gold Mine in 1827, and a rich history of producing significant quantities of gold has since been established.
In January 2017, the first gold was poured from the modern Haile Gold Mine after OceanaGold acquired the operation in late 2015. Commercial production commenced in October 2017. OceanaGold’s Haile Gold Mine is an example of state-of-the-art modern mining in the United States and globally.
