Rostrevor was designed in 1908 by the firm of Carrere & Hastings. The 23-room mansion has about 20,000 sq ft of living space and 20 foot ceilings. In May 2006 it was offerred for sale at 7.5 million.

The name "Rostrevor" may have been taken from a village in County Down, Northern Ireland, that lies on Carlingford Lough and the hill of Slieve Martin, at the base of the Mourne Mountains and on the Kilbroney River.
