Market Place Fountain (Nuneaton)

United Kingdom / England / Nuneaton / Market Place
 fountain, interesting place

This beautiful sand-coloured fountain was built on the site of a former historical structure that housed the market cross in the 1800s. A bell hung atop this octagonal edifice which tolled to signal the start of trading. The market cross building was pulled down in 1810, to be replaced by a bland T-junction.
Nevertheless, the construction of this modern fountain commemorates and highlights the area as an important focal point.
