Crystal Bay Beach is the top destinations on Nusa Penida. The beautiful little bay is named for its crystal-clear waters. The view itself is worth a trip for the white-sand beach and luxuriant vegetation.
This bay secluded cove with a 200-metre stretch of sand on the west coast of Nusa Penida Island. Its a quiet arc of white-grey sand set amid rocky, scrubby outcrops, with a small jagged islet off shore and rugged Nusa Ceningan in the distance.
Besides its beautiful palm-fringed beach, the bay is best known as one of Nusa Penida’s famous snorkelling and dive sites. The bay itself offers a sandy area in the middle and stunning coral reefs on its fringes. And the sandy area features good macro life such as nudibranchs, crabs, shrimps and cuttlefish.
Crystal Bay is a renowned dive site for being one of the only places in the world to observe the mola-mola oceanic sunfish! These massive pelagic fish that can weigh over 2,000kg and reach up to 3 meters long. Although Crystal Bay is recommended for advanced divers, beginners or non-divers can also enjoy this bay by swimming near the shore during calmer tides. Most of divers will love the exceptional visibility reaching up to 30m below. As the island is located between the Indian and Pacific Ocean.
Once out of the bay, the reef drops down along the islet. If conditions are right, you can go all the way around. Soft and hard corals cover the wall, with fish life including tuna, butterflyfish, parrotfish, clownfish, scorpionfish and many more. Beside famed dive site Crystal Bay is an ideal place for relax, sun bathing, swiming, and snorkeling as well.
