road bridge, 1975_construction
This second level bridge carries northbound Interstate 77 over eastbound Interstate 74 and the Exit 5 ramp from I-74 west to I-77 south. It is a three span, steel beam bridge with concrete deck built in 1975. It is part of the I-74 Exit 5 / I-77 Exit 101 interchange. It was built nearly 20 years before the Interstate 74 bypass of Mount Airy was built in the 1990s. Prior to that there were no roadways passing underneath it.
