Officially named the Paul J. Gelegotis Bridge, this bridge and viaduct carries the Maybank Highway (SC 700) over the Stono River. This bridge connects Johns Island with James Island and is the main route between Johns, Kiawah and Seabrook Islands and Charleston. This very wide four lane bridge replaced a narrow two lane viaduct and draw bridge in 2003.

The title of this entry would be incorrect, as the "Maybank Bridge" would more appropriately be the Burnet R. Maybank Bridge, a drawbridge over the Wappoo Creek. The Paul J. Gelegotis Bridge is also known as the Stono River Bridge, which was built in 2003 to replace a drawbridge from 1952.
