The one story, 466,000 sq. ft., factory was constructed in 1959 for FN Burt Co. a manufacturer of specialty paperboard boxes for the cosmetic, fragrance, distilled spirits, pharmaceuticals and jewelry businesses. Founded in 1886 at 440 Main Street the company was long located at 500 Seneca Street before moving to Cheektowaga. Acquired by Moore Corp. in 1909 it was sold in 1983 to W Russsell Hurd. Two years after the company was resold in 1997 it declared bankruptcy.
