The CN Tower, located in Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a communications and tourist tower standing 553.33 m (1,815 ft 5 in) tall. From its opening in 1976 until 2007, it was the world's tallest free-standing structure. It is considered the signature icon of the City of Toronto, attracting more than two million international visitors annually.
The CN Tower, designed by John Andrews and WZMH Architects and developed by the Canadian National Railway Company, was constructed from February 1973 to June 1976 at a cost of CAD$63,000,000. It has been owned by Canada Lands Company since 1995. The tower's design consists of a single continuous hexagonal core to the SkyPod with three support legs blended into the hexagon below the main pod, forming a Y-shaped base at ground level. Above the SkyPod is a 102 m (334 ft) tall broadcast antenna.
The main pod of the CN Tower, with seven levels, has a donut-shaped radome containing microwave receivers (at an elevation of 338 m (1,108 ft)), an outdoor observation terrace with a glass floor (at 342 m (1,122 ft)), an indoor observation level and the Horizons cafe (at 346 m (1,135 ft)), and the 360 Restaurant (at 351 m (1,151 ft)). Since 2011, there has also been an amusement named "EdgeWalk" at the roof of the main pod at 356 m (1,168 ft). The SkyPod observation deck is at 446 m (1,465 ft).
