Neo-Gothic brick architecture of North German style building was built by famous architect Josef Hlavka in 1867-1875. The clinic of 400 beds capacity with complete backround was at the time of its origin one of most modern institutes of its discipline in the Europe. The clinic was established by suggestion of the Czech governor Count Thun-Hohenstein instead of nearby older Country maternity home U Apolinare.
