Wakefield Westgate Station is a fine railway station at the heart of the West Yorkshire town of Wakefiels. It is the busiest of the two major facilities. Trains run to the facility on cross country and inter city services including the East Coast Mainline and the Midland Mainline.

  • Served by trains on the Leeds branch of the East Coast Main Line and the Midland Main Line. Also served by local services, all which start/end at Leeds. Plans will move the station slightly, rebuild the station building and lengthen the platforms so they can be split A and B sections like at Birmingham New Street. The developers seemed to have ignored the state of Wakefield's other station at Kirkgate.
  • Wakefield Kirkgate has not been ignored and demolition work is now in progress!
