St Alphonsa of Immaculate conception the first Indian Saint was born at Kudamaloor ,Kottayam on 19th August 1910. After the death of her mother Mariyam was brought to this Murickan house at Muttuchira where her maternal aunt Mrs Annamma lived. St Alphonsa was taken care at this house in the first six months of her initial stage. Then she was taken back to Kudamaloor and she was again back to this house for further schooling. She spend her major part of her life at this home till she joined FCC convent at Bharanaganam. It was at this house she burned her sole at the fire to prevent marital life and join the religious life.
