These two stone buildings, built in a style typical of Gold Rush commercial buildings, are protected against fire by tall iron doors. The buildings served variously as a post office, butcher shop, general store, stage stop, Wells Fargo office, bank, and warehouse. Today, they serve as an historical museum.
