The New Don Pedro Dam on the Tuolumne River holds back irrigation and drinking water and has generators that produce 203 MW of electricity.
Completed in 1971, it is 585 feet (178 m) high, 2,800 feet (853 m) wide, and 1,900 feet (579 m) thick at the base.
