Hartshorne House. Oldest publicly own building in Wakefield and possibly the oldest home in town still in its original location. Built in the 1660's, it remain a private home into the 1890 when it was sold to a local ice company and used as a tenement for workers harvesting ice from the lake.
In 1929, the Town took possession of the building and began to restore it.
Today the home is occupied by new couples who agree to maintain and run the house as a venue for events such as wedding receptions and social gathering. The couple resides on the second floor while events are held on the first floor and gardens outside.
