telecommunication, microwave tower / microwave transmission, tropospheric scatter station
Part of a four-station rearward troposcatter communications chain from the Lady Franklin Point DEW Line site, the Snare Rapids Site was a relay station for phone communications between Hay River and Port Radium. The RCAF operated the site until 1975 when it was transferred to Canadian National Telecommunications (CNT) before closing in 1981. It looks to have now had its billboard antennae demolished but is now the site of a microwave communications tower.
