Thoroughfare Gap. A gap in an extension of Catoctin Mountain. I-66, U.S. Highway 55, a single-tracked railroad (formerly the Manassas Gap Railroad) and a stream now travel through the gap. The gap contains the remnants of the historic Beverley Mill. A battle in the Civil War occurred here on August 28th, 1862.
