Estate home designed c. 1872 by Calvert Vaux for Frederic Edwin Church who was a painter of the Hudson River School. It exemplifies a mixture of Victorian, Orientalist and Moorish styles, and it is extensively stenciled both inside and out with patterns designed by Church.
