Rosemary Hall, the private all-girls boarding school founded 1890, moved here in 1900, and operated at this campus through the 1971 school year, when it formally merged with The Choate School in Wallingford, CT. The Daycroft School moved here from its adjacent location south at The Boulders in 1971. It operated here through the 1991 school year. The Greenwich Japanese School, a Japanese expatriate school, bought the property soon after. By 2001, the Westchester Fairfield Hebrew Academy moved into the 17+ acre campus from its Port Chester, NY location.

Fifteen historic buildings on the property, rendered in the Renaissance Revival and Gothic Revival styles, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) for their significance in the areas of architecture and education.
