Martin Luther King, Jr. Pavilion

USA / New Jersey / Edgewater /
pavilion, artwork, public works department (PWD), interesting place, Modern (architecture)

Designed in 2012 by HOK. In the process of building, a series of hidden WPA murals executed by artists like Georgette Seabrooke, Charles Alston, and Vertis Hayes were uncovered and restored. Digital enlargements of three of the murals adorn the building’s 12,000-square-foot glass facade. These color images — printed on the glass using ceramic ink — are a city block long and five stories high.
