Stainless Steel Smelting, Rolling & Fabrication Plant formerly J & L Steel

The Primary function is to efficiently produce a quality stainless steel slab on a timely basis. Products include stainless steel in the austenitic, ferritic, martensitic and duplex families.

Former site of the Crucible Steel works (which employed over 8,000 people in the 1970s), was then purchased by Jones & Laughlin and then recently reacquired by Allegheny Ludlum. Crucible officially shut its doors in the mid 1980's laying off thousands of employees. The town was crippled by the layoffs and slowly drifted from the comfortable lifestyle most of its residents enjoyed. Similar stories can be told about nearly all of the river towns in Beaver County supported by the steel industry.
