Historic plantation home designed c. 1800 by Dr. William Thornton for George Washington’s nephew, Major Lawrence Lewis. At its height, "Woodlawn" comprised over 2,000 acres and was supported by scores of workers, at least 90 of whom were enslaved people of African descent.
It is now adaptively reused for offices of the Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture.
