Built 1885, the Germania Building is the best preserved and one of the most important 19th century hotel buildings in Ann Arbor, the Late Victorian building was also a primary meeting place of the German community in Ann Arbor. The Staebler family owned the property and had several businesses operating in the complex, including a farm implement store, Ann Arbor's first automobile dealership, and the hotel. The Germania Building Complex remained in the Staebler family until the early 1970s. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
