125-foot, 11-story Beaux-Arts hotel completed in 1929. Designed by Gronenberg & Leuchtag, it is clad in red brick with limestone trim above a 2-story limestone base. The symmetrical facade has an arched central entrance atop four grey stone steps, with inner and outer metal-framed glass double-doors. The arched molding has an escutcheon flanked by palm fronds at the apex. Above is a black metal box canopy, suspended from a pair of brackets at the 2nd floor. There are two single-windows above the entrance, and two more on either side, with beveled stone surrounds. At the base they all have small, angled, black canvas awnings, and the outer bays have stone spandrels between the two lower floors decorated with foliate roundels flanked by floral ornament. Each window at the base has a cornice, joined across the outer pairs at the 2nd floor, where there are ornate cartouches between the windows. The base is capped by a dentiled stone cornice.
The brick 3rd-7th floors have stone keys are the edges, and are each separated by a thin sill course (except for below the 7th floor, where there is a broader cornice with a decorated frieze). The windows in the center two bays of the 3rd-5th floors are framed by stone pilasters with small Corinthian capitals supporting stone entablaures and cornices joined across the two windows. There are stone panels between these two windows on these floors, with intricate foliate ornament. Above the cornices, short stone spandrels have similar ornament. The center windows on the 6th floor are round-arched, with a medallion between them. The cornice below the 7th floor projects at the center bays, with modillions, and is topped by a balustrade with circular cutouts.
The top floors are faced in beige cast-concrete, with a setback above the 8th floor and a parapet extending up around the 9th floor. The 8th floor has six single-windows, and the 9th-floor parapet has two rectangular openings. Behind the parapet, the 9th floor (as well as the 10th & 11th) have five window bays, and there are two sets of projecting metal balconies at the top two floors. Most of the rear of the building ends at the 7th floor, with the top floors only jutting up from the front end that faces Central Park West, and along the north end (also faced in stucco on its south elevation); there is a light court in the center of the building. The taller east end of the hotel is crowned by a roof top pergola and mechanical penthouse.
It was formerly Astor on the Park Hotel until 2017, when it became the Park West Hotel, with 63 guest rooms.
