Also called Faraone Vecchia, the old borgo of Faraone is attested since 1001. After 1863, it formed part of the municipality of Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata. Badly damaged by earthquakes in 1950-1951, it was abandoned and the inhabitants settled at Faraone Nuova to the west.
