Los Angeles, CA 90068-3721

This is game show host Bob Barker's 2-story Spanish colonial, located on the southwest corner of Hillside and Outpost. It was built in 1929 as a part of the "Outpost Estates" development, one of the earliest luxury home developments in LA. In 1999, the home was made a "Historic-Cultural Landmark" by the City of Los Angeles, and given the name "The Outpost II."

In 1853, Hollywood's first adobe was built here by Don Tomás Urquidez. Urquidez failed to record his property title and lost the property to General Harrison Gray Otis, the founder of the Los Angeles Times, through legal wrangling associated with California's secession to the United States. Otis referred to the adobe as "The Outpost" and it is from this now-demolished home that the Barker home gets its nickname.
