The Lot at Formosa (West Hollywood, California)

USA / California / West Hollywood / West Hollywood, California / North Formosa Avenue, 1041
place with historical importance, film/video production studio/facility

Originally built by Jesse D. Hampton ca. 1918 and bought by Douglas Fairbanks. When he married Mary Pickford it became Pickford-Fairbanks Studio. The two of, them partnered with D.W. Griffith and Charles Chaplin in 1919 forming United Artists

Samuel Goldwyn joined the partnership in 1927 and the studio was renamed Untied Artists.

In 1933 20th Century took over the studio (I believe they rented part of it).

In 1939 Samuel Goldwyn renamed it Goldwyn Studios even though Mary Pickford, who controlled United Artists, was still headquartered there.

In 1954 Pickford and Goldwyn battled in the courts for ownership, with Goldwyn being the victor.

In 1974 Goldwyn died and the studio became the property of his widow, Frances. When she died in 1976 it was left to the Motion Picture and Television Fund. In 1980 Warner bought it from the fund and it became Warner-Hollywood.

Major tenants include Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network, Showtime, and HBO.

The credits to HBO's "True Blood" mentions the production facilities at "the lot." Are scenes filmed here, or just post/editing?
