Historic ranch property once owned by Chief Ouray, a Ute Native American leader. The site, which now contains a small museum dedicated to Chief Ouray, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). From the NRHP nomination form:

"Chief Ouray was a significant participant in the peaceful relations between Washington, D.C. and the Colorado Utes. Ouray acted as Chief of the Confederated Bands of Utes when approached by government officials. His restraint in the N. C. Meeker Massacre of 1879 prevented open hostilities between Indians and whites in Colorado. Ouray also arranged for the return of the captives taken during the uprising, held at the White River Agency."
