Zuber & Cie Wallpaper

USA / New Jersey / West New York /
store / shop, movie / film / TV location

Luxury French wallpaper manufacturer which was founded in 1797 by Jean Zuber. Their works can be seen in countless historic homes and in the White House.

It--along with the 19th Street-scape served as a filming location for S1E2 of the Amazon series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" to showcase the neighborhood of the Maisel & Roth Garment Co. which is owned by the Maisel family. Gold embossing on the storetfront window pegged the real-life Zuber & Cie store as a fictional 'Rafael Fabrics'. It was used again in S3E8 as Midge goes to visit Joel at work. Interestingly, the entry to 8 West 19th Street was covered with a roll-top gate for filming much like the ones at the Siegel Cooper Building a few doors down. The supposed entrance into the Maisel & Roth Garment Co. is the service entrance for 140 Fifth Avenue which is accessible on 19th Street.
