The Marlow Condominium

USA / New Jersey / West New York / West 82nd Street, 150
 apartment building, Georgian (architecture)

10-story Neo-Georgian residential building completed in 1926. Designed by George F. Pelham, it is clad in red brick above a rusticated ground floor with a high, grey-granite water table. The brick on the 8th & 9th floors is of a paler shade.

The central entrance has slightly-recessed wrought-iron-and-glass double-doors framed by a patterned molding and covered by a rounded, green canvas canopy extending out over the sidewalk. Above the doorway is a panel with swags and two rosettes, with scrolled at the ends and a dentiled cornice on top. The entry is flanked by 2-story fluted pilasters with Corinthian capitals that support a panel carved with Renaissance ornament atop the 2nd floor's center bay, surmounted by a dentiled cornice and a scrolled pediment broken by an urn. There are two windows in this bay at the 2nd floor, separated by a vertical stone panel carved with more Renaissance forms, including a fruit bowl at the top.

To either side of the entrance the ground floor has a bay of single-windows, followed by paired windows. The east end bay has a double-window, while the west end bay has a single-window next to a black metal service door set low in the water table. Three low basement windows at the sidewalk level also break the water table, one to the right of the entry and two to the left.

The upper floors have double-windows in both end bays, with four bays of paired windows in between. At the 2nd floor they have stone surrounds, and the end bays (divided by green iron mullions) are topped by carved panels surmounted by scrolled pediments broken by urns. There are simple stone sills on the other windows, with a sill course crossing below the 4th & 9th floors. Above the 2nd floor the end bays have brick lintels. Some protruding air-conditioning units dots the facade, which is capped at the 9th floor by a bracketed white metal roof cornice. A 10th-floor penthouse level is set back from the main roof line on all four sides, and the west and east elevations have light wells at the middle of these facades.

The building contained 54 apartment units, but was decreased following a 2020 renovation by BKSK Architects for Slate Property Group.
