Indeed it used to be the biggest in Asia circa 1968.It used to do about a million plywood panels in a 24-hour continuous operation all for export.The Sarmiento and Hipolito families of Pulilan,Bulacan founded the plants at that time using funds from the Japanese reparations program started out during the term of Magsaysay and later on Macapagal/Marcos.Noteworthy to mention are Pedro Cabading and Mariano Acosta who worked with quality and materials control.The place is currently managed by a holding company which is quite different from the previous group called Sarmiento Enterprises, Inc(originally "SARBRO" or Sarmiento Brothers).Moslems and Christians work in harmony in the factory.Religion has never been a problem in the company!!

Sarmiento Enterprises was owned and founded by the Sarmiento brothers(Lorenzo,Abraham and _______(?))It is now owned and managed by a consortium quite separate and different from the founders.

  • I worked here sometime in 1969 immediately after the EE Board Exams results was released.I stayed for at least 6 months after which I resigned as I was offered a scholarship in Munich, Germany.I likewise left in haste as a woman was pursuing me like mad!!!
  • Where are Pedro Cabading and Mariano Acosta? They were the stalwarts of the company in quality and materials control. I worked with the company for only about 6 months as I had to complete my studies in engineering way back in 1969.Also, I dodged a girl who was very determined to nail me since I was an "engineer"(a good catch).
