Originally built in 1971 to make Colombo yogurt and briefly under French ownership (1977 onto 1993), it was bought by General Mills, which also made Yoplait yogurt there. In 2010, Colombo yogurt was discontinued, but the plant continued to operate until fall 2014 when General Mills shut down the factory.
