footbridge, Grade II Listed (UK)
The footbridge in London Zoo which crosses Regent's Canal was constructed in 1872 and links the Middle Gardens to the area of the zoo north of the canal. It is a single span, slightly cambered, cast iron girder bridge with decorative pattern of iron circles of diminishing size in the spandrels. The bridge bears the founder's name R Masefield and Company, and was built by D Cross and Son. The abutments were partly rebuilt in 1930.
