Chanhassen is a city located in sections 12 and 13 of Chanhassen Township, Carver County, Minnesota. (also extending partially into Hennepin County). The population was 22,952 at the 2010 census.

Chanhassen Township was settled in 1852, and organized in 1858. The city of Chanhassen was incorporated as a village in 1896. A post office was established from 1854-63, and began in Hennepin County, but transferred to Carver County in 1857. The village was permanently settled in 1881, and a post office was reestablished in 1882.

Chanhassen was voted #2 in the 2009 Money Magazine "Best places to live in the USA" ratings:
