This is an unique village famous for its school - S.V.V. Higher Secondary School, a reservoir which keeps this place off draught map through out the year, communal harmony, holy shrines and hard working people. Though its been loosing its real charm in the name of development [which had been there since ages due the literacy ignited by the school] and lack of alternate employment for agriculture. This small village, not too small though, has been a shelter for Srilankan Tamil Speaking refugees since min 1980s. The near by towns are Virudhunagar[hardly 5 KM], Aruppukottai and upcoming Sulakarai civil services township. Famous people: All the sincere and dedicated teachers from the school are well known in and around the village. Mr. A.V. Chettiar, Ex-vice president of Mauritius, Mr.A.Selvaraj Industrialist/Enterpreneur, Mr.Rajaraman who holds the rank of additional collector,Captain Sukumar, Mr.Kasi Raman,Head of Public telephone booth owners association of India, Honourable Magistrate Mr.S.Kannan, Mr.N.Sundar, Software Architect, Sundaram Traders and Sons Group, Mr. Rama Lakumanan - Retd Tamil Ayya, Mr.Abdul Quadir humanitarian, and many more hard working souls interested in the growth of the village.
