This stadium at Jammu, on the bank of Tawi River is a major sports complex of Jammu and Kashmir. It has a seat capacity of 20000 odd people. It was constructed a and opened in the year 1966. Further developmental works were done later years, time to time. The first and only One Day International match was played in this stadium in between India and New Zealand on 19th December 1988. Besides this, First Women's Test match was played from 27th to 29th November 1976 in between India and West Indies, and women's one day international match was played in between India and New Zealand on 24th March 1985. This ground is also used for Republic Day parade. Prior to construction of permanent pavilion, the pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra used to start from this ground.
