Tipu Sultan popularly known as the Tiger of Mysore was one of the foremost kings of South India who fought against British colonialisation in the erstwhile Mysore kingdom. He was born here in Devanahalli. Though the place has been neglected quite a bit, a small dolmen with a stone tablet enshrined there stands testimony to time as his birthplace. The fort nearby was renovated and strengthened under his regime.
