Curral das Freiras - also known as Valley of the Nuns - is a parish in the district of Câmara de Lobos in the Madeira Islands. The population in 2001 is 1,673, its density is 66.7/km² and the area is 25.07 km². It is located northeast of Câmara de Lobos. The main industry is agriculture. It is connected with a road linking south to Câmara de Lobos. The mountains encircle the village in which are partially forested except further north. Madeira's tallest mountain, Pico Ruivo lies to the east. Some residential houses are cut off from the main roads. Vineyards on the steep hillsides encircling the parish produce grapes for Madeira wine.
