The Municipal Garden is located in the centre of Funchal. Until the 19th century this area was a Franciscan Convent (today it is possible to see the coat of arms of this religious order in the garden),being demolished in order to build the garden. This green area is composed by an enormous variety of flowers, trees (either local or foreign ones), an anphitheatre which takes place several cultural and social events, a Café, as well as a lagoon with beautiful swans.
It is a good place for those who want to breath fresh air!
