508-foot, 38-story modernist hotel completed in 2021 for a partnership of Marriott International, Ritz Carlton Hotels, and Flag Luxury Group. Designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects with interiors by Yabu Pushelberg, it is clad in grey metal and pre-cast stone panels and glass. The floor plates on the east side incorporate angled corners aligned to the street grid below the property’s footprint. The tower rises from a 3-story base that is aligned more north-south, while the tower is juxtaposed on a more east-west bearing.
There are two tall mechanical floors at the bottom of the tower portion, above an amenities floor, arranged in five large bays at the south facade, with deep voids at the 5th floor and metal grilles at the 6th. Here the tower rises vertically from the base, which is set back from the street. Most of the base features horizontal dark-grey bands of pre-cast stone, and the main entrance is located at the east part of the set-back section, with glass doors below a metal canopy extending out to the street. There is a wide band of windows on the 2nd floor, and taller band of windows on the 3rd floor that doesn't extend as far west. The base juts out at the southeast corner, with floor-to-ceiling glass at the ground floor. The 2nd- & 3rd-floor window bands wrap around the corner and continue on the east facade, with the taller 3rd-floor glass extending farther north.
The narrow east end of the tower is set back somewhat from the base, and has one bay of the large 4th-floor voids and 5th-floor screens. The north half features a dramatic cantilever with a wedge-shaped concrete support at the 5th floor. The upper floors of the tower have ribbon bands of windows on the south facade, with floors divided by thin band of projecting grey panels. The bands wrap around the southeast corner and continue on the southern half of the east facade over Broadway. The north part of this facade is separated from the south half by a recessed vertical groove, and is clad in lighter-grey pre-cast concrete with a bay of windows with one wide pane paired to a narrower pane. Darker grey stripes separate the floors.
The northern wall is largely composed of blank reinforced concrete, with only one strip of windows down the centerline. This side of the structure is mostly dedicated to the elevator cores and egress shafts.
At the top of the tower is another two floors of tall mechanical spaces like those at the bottom. The hotel contains 164 guest rooms.
