The Christie Brothers bought Hollywood Studios in 1925 from C. E. Toberman, who kept the Santa Monica Blvd. frontage for his own use. At this time Howard Hughes shot his first picture using the studio.
This reduced footprint existed until it was sold to General Services Studios who recombined the properties.
