Notes: This ranch is a diverse property containing four 19th and 20th century building groups; a 20th century replica of a 15th century Scottish castle; historic roadways, spectacular landforms and views, pastures and corrals, a wildlife preserve; and an important prehistoric archaeological site in the form of a rock shelter dating to as early as 1250 AD. The castle was constructed by Cornish stonemasons from stone quarried on the site. Cherokee Ranch has evolved from its early days as a series of small individual homesteads through to the present day, where it operates as a large-scale cattle ranching property.
