road bridge, stone bridge
This is the original bridge over the River Thurne.
It is single lane bridge with traffic lights to allow traffic in either direction. This is the limit of navigation on the River Thurne for the majority of river cruisers. Smaller/low cruisers can still pass but require a low tide and a low river level in order to clear under the bridge. In the past boats have travelled upstream and not been able to pass back, due to rising river levels.
The Potter Heigham bypass (A149) to the east is now the preferred traffic route with a more robust two lane steel bridge.
