The colonia was created in 1923 as affordable housing for Mexican-American laborers. Andres Reynoso “Andrew” Arevalos, who moved to the area in 1908, purchased Lot 42, what is now 10332 Calle Madero, in October 1926 and would live there the rest of his life. Arevalos' home was bulldozed and replaced with another house.
